It's 31st December again. 2014 flew by in a blur. Is it just me or is time passing by faster and faster?
Honestly, I don't remember half the things that happened in 2014. Looking at my Instagram account might help but then again, like what a friend of mine had mentioned, my Instagram account is more like a food account cause it "has more pictures of food than of you and Zul!" HAHAHAHAHA.
I can't help it I LOVE food!
So let me recall what I can remember that happened to me in 2014.....
1) I got eye lasik!
Yeap! Finally did it!!
Been wanting to do it but never did book an appointment. LOL.
My degrees are about 500-600+ and I have astigmatism too.
Went to get it done at Laser Vision Centre at Singapore Eye Centre.
The doctor recommended me to get the Lasek instead of the Lasik as I have dry eyes and one of Lasik's side effects is dry eyes.
Lasek doesn't require the cornea to be cut unlike lasik. Instead, they use a laser to correct your vision.
It's said to be safer but a little more expensive.
The doctor assured me that it was gonna be painless too!
And after the surgery, there would be mild discomfort in the eyes for a few days.
It really was painless!
And very fast too! Around 10 minutes and it was done!
But after that, the lights become wayyyyy too bright for my eyes.
This was already warned by my doctor.
That's why I was given special goggles to protect by eyes from the lights.
I also got MC for a week. I was not allowed to go out of the house for a week - for fear of getting infection by the dust, etc.
At first, it was pretty uncomfortable. I was dying to rub my eyes!
My eyes also became quite watery.
Had to constantly put eyedrops. Actually, every hour!
Yeap! Had to put eyedrops every hour then slowly decrease the number over the weeks.
I THINK it has been 3-4 months since my lasik and I DID NOT REGRET IT AT ALL!!!
I can see everything super clearly now!
My astigmatism is almost gone too!
I no longer have to feel for my specs every morning.
I no longer have to squint my eyes like crazy trying to locate something that I have dropped while showering.
I no longer am blinded by cars' headlights at night!
2) Quit my job!
"If you hate your job, quit your job"
And that's exactly what I did!
If you guys remember, I'm always grumbling about how much I hated my job at HTV.
So I finally found the courage to throw my resignation letter and get out of that place!
The environment of the workplace was bad. The boss was kind but refused to listen to his workers and make any changes. The work itself was ridiculous and made me so miserable!
The job was definitely not paying me enough!
Slowly, one by one had walked away and last I heard, my supervisor was leaving too.
So not surprised!
Who would want to work for a company like that?
Now, it's still trying to stay relevant and create viral videos to get the name out.
So gad I got out!
Good riddance!
Now, I'm helping my dad out with his catering business.
Not exactly what I want to do but someone need to help him with his organisation and all that.
So for now, it'll have to do.
4) Found my another half
Cheyyyy! Another half seh.
LOL.
But really, I feel truly blessed to have met Z.
He treats me like the princess that I am!
HAHAHA.
But in all seriousness...
3) Gained weight!!!
So I may or may not have gained some weight!
I blame it on having a boyfriend! HAHAHA.
Cause all we do is eat, eat and eat some more whenever we meet.
How not to gain weight?
I've gained about 5kg since?
And before you ask, yes, I still go to the gym 3 times a week.
Though I have been skipping quite a few times the past few months due to going on holidays!
I really really really want to get to my goal weight but let's be realistic, yeah?
I doubt I'll ever get to that.
So I hope I lose these 5kg in 2015 and THEN in 2016 can aim for my goal weight.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Meanwhile, no more stuffing my face whenever I'm emotional anymore!
5) My mum went for surgery
SUSPENSEFUL DAY EVER!
My mum womb cancer for you guys who didn't know. She went through surgery to remove her womb a yr or 2 ago. Then had chemotherapy and radiation. Now, she's in remission, alhmdulilah.
Doctor warned her about not walking so much cause they took out some lymph nodes from near her groin area when testing for cancer cells. If she walked a lot, it will get swollen and if she doesn't let the swelling go down, it will become permanent. So my mother being stubborn and love to go out, now has a swollen left feet.
Doctor suggested to try this new surgery where they take your lymph nodes from another area of your body like the armpits and transfer in to the leg. The surgery took a whole day! And when I say the whole day, I meant from 7AM to after midnight!!!
I was so so so worried the whole day. The nurses didn't know what time the surgery would end and so I kept calling the hospital. Opps!
My mum was in so much pain after the surgery. She was not allowed off the bed for a week! But alhamdulilah, the surgery was a success. According to the doctor, they may have transferred the lymph nodes a little bit too high as her thighs are soft and smaller now but not her calf. So they might want to do another surgery again and concentrate more on the calf this time. But it won't be anytime soon. It'll probably be in a year or two.
6) Went to visit Nadiah in Brisbane, Australia
FINALLY!!!!
After 2 and a half years (I think!), F and I finally went Down Under. Went for 6 days without any planning whatsoever. It was quite a #YOLO trip for us.
Crashed at Nadiah's place and made ourselves at home. She had two roommates who were really friendly and didn't mind us being there at all so THANK GOD! Plus, we got to save on accommodation! hahahahahaha!
Nadiah suggested we rent a car so we could easily drive to Gold Coast for the theme parks.
On some days, Nadiah had school so me and F went to explore by ourselves with the help of GPS and internet! Yeap, we bought SIM Cards there. I tend to buy SIM card whenever I go overseas. Saves you quite a lot o money and makes exploring much more convenient cause you never know when you might get lost!
We had so much fun there. It was really a trip that we needed to get away from it all. We went SANDBOARDING (which we all fall on our butts a couple of times!), ate tons of fish & chips, shopped, went to theme parks, drive-thru movie and so much more!
I'm kind of wishing Nadiah would have stayed longer just so we could go and visit again!
LOVE THESE SILLY GIRLS FOREVER!

I've realized in 2014 that there are friends who are gonna stick by you no matter what, friends who make an effort to meet up with you every once in a while, friend who make you laugh like crazy most of the time but yet know when to be serious, friends who advises you even though they know you're probably not gonna listen.
I am very grateful and thankful that I have friends like that. In every step of my life, I've made new friends who seem to have stuck with me till now. My favourite girls, my krepot bitches, my minah and so much more. I can never thank Allah enough for letting me keep these beautiful people and call them friends.
2014 was a year of joy and laughter and a few tears here and there. I've grew up a little over the year and made decisions that sometimes, it's not exactly what I want but I made them anyway cause it was the right thing to do. Regardless, I don't regret my 2014. It was definitely a good year.
