From Rags by Suzanne Wright

One Word:

There has only been three people in Jaxxon Carter's life who truly mattered to her. Her mum, who committed suicide. Her sister, who she hasn’t seen since her teens. And Connor McKenzie, who disappeared from her life the same day he left their foster home. The hardest part of that was that he never completely left her life because she was forever seeing him on T.V. or in magazines as a Formula One Driver. But Jaxxon refuses to live a ‘woe is me’ life, even in spite of living alone in her one-roomed flat and being expected to survive on a ridiculously low income. Then one night she is offered a modelling job and before she knows it she has been catapulted to the peak of success, gaining fame, fortune and security. Oh and a stalker.

Connor McKenzie is busy trying to shake off his crazy ex-girlfriend – another woman who thought she could get around his no marriage rule – when he sees Jaxxon on the cover of a magazine. Remembering how close they had once been, he’s shocked when she doesn’t respond to his attempts to contact her and then acts indifferently to him when they meet. But Connor can’t let it go. The only reason he had kept his hands off her ten years ago was that she had been younger than him. Now that they’re adults, he isn’t prepared to allow anything – not even Jaxxon – to stop him from having her.
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Jaxxon! She is so different from the usual book heroine. She's independent, vulgar, strong and she is not apologetic for it! Connor is well…quite the typical egoistical hero but still, loveable.
“Like it or not, your business became mine the minute you let me inside your body.”
"I want to fuck you so bad my cock actually fucking hurts. They might not be sweet, flowery, poetic words – the kind you’d laugh at – but that’s the truth. I have to know what it’s like to be deep inside you."
I mean, COME ON! How can you NOT fall for Connor?

Jaxxon is seriously one of the best, if not THE BEST, book heroine I've ever read. Everything that comes out of her is pure gold and I really love how she is not afraid, despite going through what she went through.
“Here's something for you to remember; you might have been born into money, but you came out of a vagina the same as everyone else. Popping out of one that's rich doesn't make you anything but lucky, or susceptible to being stuck your own arse. Whichever."
From Rags is definitely a five out of five stars for me. It manages to capture my attention from page 1 and I love that the book is not in anyone's point of view so we get little bits of what everyone in the book is truly feeling. Not to mention, some lines definitely got me smiling and laughing to myself!
“Basically, then, this is like a mathematical equation to you? ‘I want you’ plus ‘You want me’ equals ‘Shag’?”
"I curse like a sailor." "We can always say you have Tourette's Syndrome." "Even someone with Tourette's syndrome would be wide-eyed by some of the things that comes out of my mouth"
"Go on, give the men of your country something to add to their wank-bank."
